Panic Fest 2021 was going to be a festival like no other we had planned before. In the middle of a pandemic we knew our festival had to shift primarily to a virtual festival with unique programming to bring together some of the best genre films the industry had to offer while also fulfilling a sense of community during a time when most people were burnt out on Zoom meet-ups.

Leveraging the Eventive platform we were able to schedule on-demand programming that not only included films but over 15 special events that ranged from Q&A sessions to festival specific podcasts.

Our final tactic to bring together our festival family was to implement a virtual world called Gather where everyone was welcome to join their fellow film fans inside a 16-bit space complete with their own avatar. Gather allows proximity chat so our attendees just had to sit back, turn on their camera and mics and wander around our virtual Screenland Theater that was packed with tons of hidden rooms and games for them to play while they watch films for 14 days. The festival was a massive success drawing in five times our projected audience and exposed our festival to many new genre fans setting up our success for Panic Fest 2022.
